InfoSpy is a Windows 3.1 system monitor. A slightly crippled version is available as shareware. Some of the items you can do with Infospy are:

  • Monitor System Resources
  • Spy on Task Information
  • Spy on Active Window Information
  • List Open Files
  • Show Various System Information such as DOS Device Drivers and Loaded VxD’s
  • Monitor DDE Activity
  • Monitor File Activity
  • Monitor Com Port Activity
  • Monitor Windows Messages
There are many other items you can monitor or spy on as well.

The other thing you can do with InfoSpy is stress Windows. This allows you to use up various Windows system resources, such as GDI handles or memory, to see how your program works in various stressed situation. This can be very useful during testing or when debugging a program that appears to be having problems when system resources are low.

Recomendations:

I find InfoSpy to be a useful addition to my Windows testing and debugging toolbox. When you consider the number of features you get for the price ($35.00 US), it is probably one of the best products available.
